Why is my background check taking so long?

Most background checks for healthcare providers in Nepal take 5 to 10 business days to complete, but some may take longer. Every background check is as unique as the individual caregiver applying, so the completion time varies with each report.Actual delivery time is not guaranteed due to various factors.

Three common reasons your background check may be taking longer:

  • Waiting for documentation: We may need additional information from you, such as educational certificates, medical licenses, or police clearance certificates. If this is the case, you should have received a communication from us.
  • Government office delays: The Nepal Medical Council, Department of Health Services, or local police stations may be taking longer than usual to verify credentials or return data. This is especially common during festival seasons or due to administrative backlogs.
  • Third-party verifications: Your background check may include employment verification with previous hospitals, clinics, or educational institutions that depends on verifying information with third parties.

A standard background check report from Carepii Nepal contains multiple verification screenings selected based on the type of care service being provided.

Different types of care services may require different screenings. For example, specialized medical care providers may need additional certifications, while home support caregivers may have different requirements.

To submit your documents for verification:

  • Sign up as a provider on the Carepii Nepal platform with your basic information
  • Login to your account using your registered mobile number or email address
  • You’ll be automatically redirected to the identity check page after login
  • Upload clear photos or scanned copies of all required documents as guided by the system

Document Requirements:

Ensure all documents are clear, in focus, and show all four corners. Accepted formats: JPG, PNG, PDF (max 5MB each). The identity check page will show you exactly which documents are needed for your specific care service type.

Usually a report will be suspended because Carepii Nepal has requested information or documentation from you to proceed, and has not yet received it.

Common reasons for suspension include:

  • Missing or unclear citizenship documents
  • Expired medical licenses or certifications
  • Incomplete educational transcripts
  • Pending police clearance certificate
  • Unverified employment references

The best way to see if Carepii needs any information is to see in your gmail account (email) or log in into your provider account.

Some common reasons your background check may still be pending:

  • Documentation pending: Carepii is waiting for information or documentation from you. Check your email and the Caregiver Portal for any requests.
  • Government verification delays: We’re waiting for responses from the Nepal Medical Council, Department of Health Services, or local government offices.
  • Educational institution verification: Universities or nursing schools may take time to verify your credentials, especially during academic breaks.
  • Reference verification: We may be waiting for your professional references to respond to our verification requests.
  • Police clearance processing: Local police stations may have backlogs in processing character certificates.

Most background checks take between 5-10 business days to complete. If yours is taking longer, please check your emails or log into the Provider account to see if there’s any information required from you.
